Remember Rinku and Dinesh? Those Indian reality TV show contestants who can throw kind of hard, but not really, but that’s still good enough to get you a contract with the Pirates? They finally got some game action yesterday.

Rinku Singh got knocked around a little in his inning of work; Dinesh Patel was better. And neither embarrassed themselves or the Pirates organization, which is a moral victory for everyone. And, as always, the two recapped their afternoon in hilarious broken English on their blog.

I was forwarded a couple more photos this morning of Sahel Kazemi, the 20-year-old mistress of Steve McNair. Both were found dead yesterday at a Nashville condo rented by the former NFL quarterback. Here is a photo of Kazemi on top of the Escalade McNair purchased for her.

Three days ago Kazemi was charged with DUI for driving the same vehicle while “high” - with McNair in the passenger seat.

The good thing about restricted free agency is that it allows teams to hang on to their young talent, to give them time to become fan favorites and maybe even franchise players some day. It really would have been nice if the Blackhawks would have taken advantage of that.

In a move that seems like something more out of the “Dollar Bill” Wirtz era, the Chicago failed to deliver the paperwork to six of their young players before the deadline passed, so by the letter of the law, those aren’t Chicago’s players anymore.

We all had a good laugh when that pigeon was accidentally killed by a cricket ball. Maybe it should have been a warning. An umpire was killed yesterday after being struck by a thrown cricket ball in Wales.

Alcwyn Jenkins, 72, was hit in the side of the head in “one of the most freak accidents you could ever imagine,” and collapsed immediately. He was airlifted to the hospital and died there.

Before we can spend time mourning a celebrity, or appreciating their life’s work, we obsess over the circumstances of their death, especially if they were as young as Steve McNair. Now at least we can put one question to rest.

Police are set to announce today that McNair was killed by 20-year old Sahel “Jenny” Kazemi, who then turned the pistol on herself. Once the autopsies are completed, they’ll officially be able to classify the deaths. But it’s clear already.

UPDATE: Sahel Kazemi’s former longtime boyfriend, Keith Norfleet, in an interview with the TENNESSEAN Saturday, had this to say about Kazemi’s relationship with McNair:

“He was making her believe they were going to be together, and everything would be perfect.”

Though they were broken up, Norfleet said they’d been speaking a lot recently and she planned to break it off with McNair. He said she banged on her door early Saturday morning, but he didn’t get there fast enough.

Above is a snapshot of Norfleet’s current Myspace page. Note the message next to his profile photo: “never let anyone or anything come in between you and the one you love because when you do you lose everything.”

Don’t forget about the NASHVILLE POST’s report that McNair apparently had his life threatened the morning of the murder. The Post is also now reporting that McNair was in the vehicle when Kazemi was charged with DUI two days ago, and that she was “high” and not drunk.

UPDATE: The TENNESSEAN reports Sahel Kazemi was indeed the woman found dead with McNair.

UPDATE: Bizarre news from the NASVHILLE POST, which reports:

According sources, a white woman in her early 20s, around 5-foot-4, approached McNair at the restaurant and accused him of slipping her a “roofie” a year ago.

The woman then told McNair, according to sources, that her boyfriend was going to kill him. Multiple sources have confirmed that this information has been shared with the Metro Police Department. Metro Police has yet to identify the dead woman, but is it unknown if the woman at the restaurant is the same woman found in the condo.

The NASHVILLE TENNESSEAN reported earlier today that a 20-year-old woman was charged with DUI two days ago in an Escalade registered to Steve McNair. The woman, Sahel Kazemi, was identified as 20 years old. (Kazemi is now confirmed as the second deceased victim found with McNair.)

UPDATE: The TENNESSEAN reports on the likely female victim found with McNair. 20-year-old Sahel Kazemi was charged with DUI in McNair’s Escalade earlier this week. McNair was reportedly found dead, along with a 20-year-old female.

The same car was towed from the apartment complex where McNair and the woman were discovered today.

UPDATE: Just as I predicted hours ago on Twitter, CNN breaks the McNair story wide open - and not ESPN. CNN reports the 20-year-old woman found dead with the married McNair was his “girlfriend.”

UPDATE: WSMV: “Police spokesman Don Aaron said a woman, who was not McNair’s wife Mechelle, was also found dead with McNair. He said police tentatively have identified the woman but did not release her name.”

UPDATE: NASHVILLE POST reports on the person found dead with McNair: “The woman, sources say, was approximately 20 years of age.”

UPDATE: Based on the complete incompetence of the Nashville media reportage of McNair’s death (see below), best at this point to wait out the genuine details as made available by local police.

UPDATE: After initially reporting McNair’s death as a possible “murder/suicide“, WTVF is now referring to it as a “double homicide.”

UPDATE: WSMV in Nashville also reported McNair killed in a murder/suicide. Now, the TV station has apparently backed off that report too.

The NASHVILLE POST continues to report, “the scene was either a murder/suicide or made to look like a murder/suicide.”

While this isn’t quite on the level of earlier stories about the marathon runner who ran down her assailant or the elderly ex-boxer who beat up a burglar, let it be known that high school custodians can be heroes, too. A 39-year-old Fountain Valley (Calif.) man was arrested Tuesday after the janitor at Fountain Valley High School spotted him masturbating while watching girls on the cross country team doing warmup exercises. Remember, without eternal janitor vigilance, it can happen at your school.
